Last Month's Meeting
November 2000
by Ben, VA3BNY, Program Chairman

The November 7 meeting of the Kitchener Waterloo Amateur Radio Club featured Phil Gebhardt VE3ACK and his excellent presentation on Radio Detection of meteors.

Phil displayed various graphical illustrations on this phenomena  and his involvement during recent experiments.

Phil is shown here displaying a field antenna that can be used. With the use of simple listening methods, anyone is able to detect meteors using a FM radio.

Some of the experiments involved many stations sending and attempting to receive the short bursts of data in the northern territory of Ontario where minimal interference and uncluttered reception is possible. Future attempts will include a North American co-ordinate multi receiving station experiment.

Phil has written many articles pertaining to his interest in this area, and provided our club members with sources of information and how anyone can become involved.

Phil was presented with a certificate of appreciation from our program Co-Ordinate VA3BNY Ben.

Our sincere thanks to Phil for sharing with us his experiences.

Program Chairman
