The Jack Ravenscroft Case

The topic of the evening was the famous Jack Revenscroft Case, which was presented in detail using a combination of overhead and computer generated video.  Our guest speaker was Ralph Cameron VE3BBM from Ottawa who was heavily involved.

The case involved amateur radio operator Jack Revenscroft of Ottawa who was accused of radio interference.  He was ultimately sued by his neighbour who contended his various appliances were behaving strangely when Jack operated his amateur radio station. While there was no question that some interference was being caused by Jack, following a court order to cease transmitting the  interference continued even after Jack's radio equipment was removed from his home and was in Ralph's possession at the time.  It was thought perhaps a local cb'er might have been the culprit.

While the case was finally settled based on the Jack being able to solve all cases on interference, Jack passed away one week after the last interference challenge was resolved.

Ralph was thanked by our Program Chairman Ben VA3BNY and presented with a certificate of appreciation.

One of Ralph's hobbies is making Chocolates.  He brought several boxes of his creations as door prizes that were won by Gord VE3EOS and two other club members who I cannot recall.  Gord is pictured here receiving his goodies from ralph.

Turns out the Ralph was neighbour to Ted Bodman VE3CD when both Ralph and Ted lived in Toronto.  They are shown enjoying a coffee and donut during the coffee break.
