NASA Shuttle Broadcasts to QSY
by Ben VA3BNY

For many years, KWARC has provided Short Wave Listeners, School Boards, and area Hams, real-time space shuttle broadcasts during NASA missions.  This service has been offered on club repeater VE3RCK, and covered a wide area around the twin cites of Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge.

NEW FREQUENCY
Through the generous donation of commercial equipment, KWARC has installed a new higher power station and began  broadcasting shuttle communications on a new, simplex frequency of 147.510 Mhz during the STS-100 mission.   We will continue to simulcast on VE3RCK including a voice announcement of the new frequency to allow shuttle bugs time to tune to the new frequency of 147.510 Mhz.

Future shuttle broadcasts will be exclusively broadcast on 147.510 mhz only. This will provide superb and dedicated coverage over a large area around K-W that can be received with a basic scanner tuned to the above frequency.

Listeners are encouraged to report their reception reports and comments to Ben Sasiela at the following e mail address. va3bny@rac.ca

Thanks you
