This month I thought I would share some of the Guest Book submissions that KWARC has been receiving on it’s web site. People visiting your club’s web site have the ability to sign our guest book and leave comments. To-date, KWARC has had almost fifteen thousand people visit our site with over 600 signing the Guest Book. Here is a brief sample of comments received over the past six months.
From: Rick Doherty: KD2QV Great web site loaded with very good information. Your club sounds like a truly devoted group of radio operators From: Bill: VE3AJ Good site to visit, lots of info and certainly enjoy your lively graphics and now Seasonal music. From: Bambang Widjaja YD2UPS, Yogyakarta Very good site, and ENJOYED the packet radio info From: Jordan Osmar, VA3DBI, Cochrane This is probably the best ham club site that I've seen on the net so far!! From: Steve - N1SR Ran across your club and publication today & am suitably impressed. I'm editor of the newsletter (Intermod) for the local Ham Radio/Repeater club near Springfield, Massachusetts and always interested in what is happening elsewhere. Regarding your new web format, its great for those who are casual browsers or those who have a particular interest (membership, editorial, packet, repeater etc). I'm sure it will be met with positive local reaction. From: Jari L. James callsign: n/a Tacoma Washington It's been 25 years since I've done anything with/in electronics. I'm becoming interested in Ham Radio again and Radio Astronomy and realize that I have to relearn everything and then some. Could you folks recommend and beginning texts so I can start off again? From: Ken Huebert, Kitchener I have a scanner and enjoy hearing your members on the local repeater. I was wondering how much money it would take to get into ham radio? One of my goals this year is to add more content to the web site by making the site more of a collective effort KWARC members. So far we have two members contributing to the site. Dave Schwartz VA3DGS has done a commendable job at designing and implementing a web based records system for KWARC. This allows all of the club records to be maintained on a central database that is password accessible by any member of the Executive from the comfort of their ham shack or actually anywhere in the world with Internet access. Club Treasurer Greg Ve3NXB can post all financial transactions which automatically updates the database so any other member of the Exec can check income and expenses for any period of time. Dave is also our SwapMaster. While we do occasionally list the goodies from Dave’s virtual swap shop here in the Kilowatter, space does not allow us to reproduce the many virtual tables full of buy and sell items that are hosted by Dave on the club’s web site. NOTE: Us Web viewers don't have that restriction so just click here Paul Tait VA3PT has taken the data from his "Not So Up To-Date Repeater Directory" and has produced a searchable web version. This site of Paul’s allows anyone seeking information on an Ontario repeater to search and sort the results by Frequency, City, or PL Tone. Check it out. Greg Hollinger VE3NXB has volunteered to take over and produce the DX section of the web site. With Greg’s dedication to DXing and our hobby in general, we can expect great things from Greg. So how about you? Do you have any interest in authoring a section of the clubs web site? There is no need to know anything about programming in HTML just a willingness to help grow our great site. If so you can reach me by one of the above addresses or phone numbers.
