MARSHAL KILEN VE3KK MEMORIAL FIELD DAY TROPHY AWARDED
This years Field Day Trophy winner was the 80 Metre SSB crew of Dave Knight VE3PMT. Dave’s able assistant was our youngest licenced operator Paul Walrath VA3VCI who recently received his 5wpm upgrade allowing him to operate 80 metre phone.

Paul was assisting Dave Knight VE3PMT at the KWARC 80 phone position and is shown here (left) receiving the trophy. At last count, the 80SSB team were moving towards 300 contacts using the Clubs vintage FT101ZD that used some electronic glass devices that Paul thought were called tubes :-). Paul is the Grandson of Dex W2VCI .

Speaking of Field Day...
It’s not to soon to start thinking about next years event. I have had numerous members mention that we should move our Field Day event to a more publicly accessible location. While we all agree the laurel Creek Conservation area makes a great operating location it does not lend itself to the public being able to easily locate us.

If you have any ideas, speak to Bill or drop him a packet/e-mail message. Last year KWARC had four stations on the air while our neighbours, the Guelph ARC were able to operate 10. KWARC has almost three times the membership of the GARC so lets use this as the benchmark to beat next summer.
