Meeting Minutes from Monday Februray 2nd 1998
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 by club President Paul Cassel, VE3SY.
All present introduced themselves. We had a great turnout for the meeting with approximately 85 members and guests present. Ben Sasiela VE3BNY introduced our Guest Speakers Brian Clark and Robert (Bob) Wilson of the K-W Record who gave a very interesting presentation of Digital Cameras. We then broke for coffee. Gerry O'Robko VE3DYY advised that VE3RND should be back on the air in a few days. Ron Gimbel, VE3DBD reported that we are 6 weeks into the Ham Course and going great. John Riddell, VE3AMZ advised that he had some Catalogues to sell at $l. per with proceeds going to the club. He also advised that VE3 RCK has been tuned. Gord Hayward VE3EOS advised that the PUG Group will meet at Ratz Bechtel Family Centre on March 2nd . Thanks was given to Ted Doda VE3TGJ for the tour he gave to the group recently. John Schreiter VE3DOS has forms for the Emergency Group. If you are interested see John. He also advised that there will be a Meeting of the group on February 26, 1998 at 7:30 at St Andrews Church for anyone interested in joining the group. Gord Gibson VE3NQK advised that the No Name DX Group are going to Cuba from February 27 - March 8 they will be working the ARRL Contest while there. Dave Schwartz, VA3DGS information on how to check the log for the Cuba Group if you are interested. You can confirm if you have worked them. It was announced that the St Catherines Hamfest is February 1998. Ben Sasiela VE3BNY advised that on February 24, 1998 in the date of Guides on the Air. He also gave the run down of speakers for the balance of the year. The winner of the 50-50 draw was Jim VE3JMU. The meeting the adjourned.
Executive Committee Minutes from Tuesday February 10th, 1998 Members Present: Gord Gibson VE3NQK . Gord Hayward VE3EOS, Dave Schwartz VE3DGS, Ben Sasiela, VE3NXB, Paul Cassel, VE3SY and Marg Cassel, VE3BLJ It was reported that we once again have an Executive Meeting site as John VE3DOS is once again working at Mutual Life. John Schreiter VE3DOS advised that he is taking over the position of Chairman of the Cyclone Committee. The question was brought up as to weather George Kramer was aware of Jim Butts leaving. Gord Gibson VE3NQK has volunteered to chair the Nomination Committee to present a list of people interested in running for the Executive of the club next year. He asked members of the present executive if they would continue with their positions and they have advised in the affirmative. Gord then made a motion that the nominations be presented at the April Meeting, voted on in May and that was the new members of the Executive will be present at the June Executive committee meeting. Flea market update. Greg Hollinger reported that Brian Gingell has toured the Community Centre in Fergus and that the back of the building will be good for the Tail Gate Sales, Bill also advised that special interest groups such as Packet or Fast Scan TV could have rooms if they are interested. It was reported that there is a video of the site and arrangements will be made for the Group Leaders to view this in the near future. There was a discussion as to the position of Emergency Coordinator. Gord Gibson and Paul Cassel are to arrange a visit with Bill VE3WLL Dave Schwartz VA3DGS is looking into locations and asking for suggestions regarding a site for Field Day. Gord Gibson advised that in the past the club has supplied Call Books etc to the Kitchener Public Library. He suggested that we should check to see how often they are used and should we be updating.
