May meeting on ULR network

As a result in a drying up of local talent able to speak on Those Mini-Satellite Dishes, Program Chairman Ben VA3BNY provided an excellent overview on the VE3ULR link system.

Of course Murphy was working overtime forcing Ben to display his very detailed PowerPoint presentation on a 14inch monitor as opposed to a giant 6 foot video projection system.

Members were shown how with just a low powered handheld radio, they can talk through KSR and the ULR link to another ham using a portable in any one of a number of other locations connected into the ULR network.

Maps were distributed to club members that provided all of the on and off codes required to access the various hops in the network. The KSR hub is used to provide access to the ULR network for the Simcoe, Brantford and London repeaters. The Baden Hub is linked via UHF to the main ULR hub located North of Toronto.

Anyone member who was unable to attend the meeting can request one of the ULR maps and codes by contacting Ben VA3BNY.
