Last Sunday members of the Elmira and K-W Amateur Radio Club ARES members took part in a mini communications exercise by providing check point information to the red Cross organizers. Set up as a fund raising event by local Red Cross volunteers the 140 km Poker Run type road rally was not based on speed but rather navigation skills and the luck of the draw created as cards are dealt to the drivers at each check point. The Club members of the two clubs who participated in the event are pictured here:

The course started at the Conestoga Mall and meandered through a number of picturesque Waterloo region communities before ending up at the BF Goodrich Foreman's Club just outside of St. Agatha where participants and radio operators were treated to Hot Dogs and Pizza. 73
