'98 Major Prize Winners

Industry Canada attended the Fleamarket and presented a series of rotating forums on the proposed new changes to the issuing of station licensing. RAC S. Ontario Director Dana Shtun VE3DSS is in the foreground getting the whole story.
Fleamarket Chairman Bill Smith VE3WHS waves HI as he cruises the generous wide isles of the 98 Fleamarket. These wide isles received very positive response from attendees and vendors who felt it was the best set-up of any Fleamarket.

This years Fleamarket operated talk-in with John Kraemer VE3VIS and Frank Parsons VE3OFH handling wide area directions. These operators then handed travelers off to the local Fergus talk-in operated here by Wally Kane VA3KWI of the Guelph ARC.
This years Fleamarket brought back traditional tailgating which was well received. Due to city bylaws our previous location did not allow tailgating. Early FM op's will recognize the old Motorola 80D strips in this picture.
"Honest Bob" Morton, VE3BFM is a fixture at all Fleamarket with his wide array of antennas ranging from 160 metre dipoles to UHF mobile whips.
Southern Ontario Chapter 73 of the Quarter Century Wireless Association was represented at this years Fleamarket by Harold Braun VE3DWH. Chapter 73 hopes to be selected as the host club for the year 2000 National Convention
NORHAM RADIO were in attendance with a large display featuring the latest in new transceivers and accessories. Business always appeared brisk and many new HF rigs were seen being carried home throughout the day.
A major contributing factor to the annual success of the central Ontario Fleamarket is the generous donation of Fred Hammond VE3HC (right) shown here chatting here with two visiting hams. The Hammond Table is always a favorite of builders.
Along with the large and spacious arena, Fergus also provided this large banquet hall for additional inside vendors.
APRS was on display at the Fleamarket. Dave Schwartz VA3DGS provided a running demo throughout the morning and reported that he was able to distribute over 50 copies of APRS software.
Joe VE3ABG is always in attendance at every Central Ontario Fleamarket event. With the return of tailgating Joe was found proudly displaying his wide array of goodies.
