Update on Fred Hammond
VE3HC

As most people are aware, our dear friend Fred Hammond VE3HC, suffered a severe stroke on Sunday June 21st, 1998 at his home in Guelph.

He was immediately transferred to the ICU at Hamilton General where he was attended to by a top neuro surgeon.

While Fred has gone through several critical stages, recent signs are encouraging and he has been moved to the St. Joseph's Hospital in Guelph.

Sons Rob and Bill would like to thank Fred's friends for respecting their previous request for no visitors and are pleased to announce that he is now receiving visitors.

Those planing to visit Fred should be sure to identify themselves when they arrive -- don't ask Fred to guess your name. Speak quietly and keep the conversation to simple sentences and questions. As long as we recognize that Fred is still in a very fragile state of health and don't expect him to be functioning at the same level he was before his stroke, being part of his recovery can be a rewarding experience for all of us.
