Last Months Meeting

MRJ at the helm Dave and Brenda Johnson (VA3MRJ) gave a very interesting talk on wintering aboard their sailboat in and around the Bahamas. The eighty five members and guests in attendance heard how the couple navigated from Georgian Bay down the inland waterways to Florida and then across to the Bahamas.

Amateur Radio played an important part in the duos adventure by allowing them to stay in touch with friends back home via voice and the Internet. E-mail was relayed through several PACTOR gateways that, according to Dave, are rapidly becoming saturated with similar nautical e-mail traffic from sailing Radio Amateurs. MRJ fish

While on the high-seas food never seemed to be a problem as is evident from this photo of Dave with several good days (weeks) of protein.

The computer generated visual display used at the meeting was kindly prepared by Ben VA3BNY who is rapidly becoming our resident PowerPoint expert. Nice job Ben.
