REPORT by John Schreiter VE3DOS
The group split into four groups, Net control, and three evacuation centres. Everyone found, as the simulation progressed that things began to flow much smoother. It was a good learning experience for all. The photo on the right shows the Net Control team for the simulated test. If you did not attend, I can pass along the biggest lesson learned was to SPEAK SLOWLY. You have to remember, the message you are transmitting has to be copied down at the receiving end, and not many of us know short hand. Remember the Waterloo Regional Emergency exercise Friday November 20, 9 AM to 4 PM This is a good learning experience for ARES members and the agencies we would assist in the event of a real disaster in our area. If you plan to attend, please sign up at the club meeting. Lunch and snacks are supplied.
Oktoberfest Bike Rally
All enjoyed themselves, attending to some parking problems, as well as dispatching St. John's Ambulance for a broken hand and foot. It was a beautiful day, even though we could not convince Uncle Hans to enter the race, and get Miss Oktoberfest to man a Ham station. Oh well maybe next year. The race was sponsored by Ziggy's Bike Shop and Ziggy was very impressed with our operation, and has asked me to contact him for further events, with donations for our assistance going to the club. My thanks personally, and on behalf of the club to those who assisted. 73 John VE3DOS
