Mind your Ps and Qs and Cs

from The ARRL Letter who credited Deb Jahnke

We recently discovered a change in the Canadian Postal Codes that could impact timely delivery. During the early 1980s, the Canadian Postal Service changed "PQ" (Province of Quebec) to "QC" (Quebec City) as a province code. Although they made the little-publicized change, they did not implement it since they were still manually sorting a majority of incoming mail. Mass automation now has come to Canada, and postal authorities there are enforcing the change. Canadian Postal Officials tell us that large mass mailings containing PQ rather than QC stand a chance of having the offending pieces returned to the sender undelivered. You might want to keep this in mind when mailing to Quebec.

Editors note:

QC=Quebec City?. Does that mean that the abbreviation MD for Maryland stands for Medical Doctor? hi hi
