The
"PREZ SEZ"

by Paul Cassel ve3sy@kwarc.org

I trust everyone had a wonderful Christmas and survived the New Years Eve parties.

While we now have evidence that KWARC was originally formed as early as 1922, many members may not be aware that KWARC was Incorporated as the "Kitchener-Waterloo Amateur Radio Club Inc." in the early 1970’s. Over the past few months your executive has been attempting to get the Corporation records brought up-to-date and properly registered with the Provincial Government.

Thanks to help from Peter Miller VA3LAW, we have been sucessful in determining that our Incorporation status is still valid with the province however the corporate bylaws currently on file with the province have been updated at least twice since the initial filing with the Province.

One of the house keeping items that we must address is updating Bylaw 1 which we sometimes refer to as the Club Constitution. The last amended Bylaw One can be found in its entirety by Clicking Here. (Use your BACK button to return here) The portions that are underlined were the changes suggested by a review committee formed in the early 90’s. There is no record (that we have found) of this proposed amended bylaw being accepted by the membership so it is being presented for your consideration prior to being registered with the Government.

Your Executive will be taking steps to assure the membership that these fillings are done on an annual basis or as directed by the Government. A full report will be forthcoming when this task has been completed and a new plan is in place.

ELMERS
I wish to thank Frazer Cooper VE3FC, and Gord Hayward VE3EOS for being KWARC’s first two Elmers of record. As I have mentioned over the past few months, your Executive are concerned about the apparent lack of interest in Basic licensees advancing their skills. One reason may be the knowledge gap between newly licensed hams and the more experienced Advanced Amateur. In an attempt to bridge this gap, KWARC is working towards establishing a list of experienced hams who are willing to Elmer our newer members.

So if you are a new ham who is frustrated with any aspect of the hobby and would like some assistance, we will be publishing the contact information on Page 2 of each Kilowatter for the volunteers who are willing to assist you in ANY area of this hobby.

May you all have a Happy and Prosperous New Year

If we want our hobby to continue as we know it today, helping and upgrading our members as we did in earlier years is critical to our survival.

I look forward to meeting everyone at the meeting Monday night
