PACKETEERING @ KWARC
by Larry Gorman

A significant part of out last meeting was devoted to talking about money (and how to spend it). Over the past several years we have provided funds for a variety of local packet needs, 4 two metre radios, a power supply, antenna work, and other miscellaneous hardware. Some concern was expressed regarding our on going role in serving the needs of the local packet links, VE3KWQ and Ted VE3TJD,s Bulletin Board System @VA3SED.

Though we no longer ask for annual support from packet users, we are still financially solvent,. Our resources are augmented by income from the flea market and Zehrs food tape rebates. The latter provided by thoughtful KWARKers and the math wizardry of Mary VE3 MWE. The primary purpose of WWPUG is to promote local packet use and to support the maintenance and upgrading if necessary of all links to surrounding nodes. We are not involved in the management or actual operation of any of these systems.

In the near future we hope to explore the pen pal concept using Packet radio New contacts based on a variety of interests, such as Amateur Radio, history, travel, geography. With destinations such as Mexico, Arizona, Australia, New Zealand, Europe ?? We could use your suggestions. Interested? Our next meeting will be at 7 PM Tuesday March 2 at the Ratz-Bechtel hospitality suite. Hope to see you there.
