Tower Work for a Pro
by Paul Cassel VE3SY

For anyone who drove past my QTH last summer and fall, they may have questioned the 10 metre beam that was at a 45 degree angle.  This was not by design but rather by a forgotten clamp bolt at time of install (don't ask).

Since this antenna was 18 feet above the top of the tower and not reachable without a crane, I called Oberle Towers of Cambridge and gave them the job of what I thought would involve lowering the 20 meter beam and then standing on the 15 metre beam to reach the 3 element for 10m.

When Frank Oberle arrived he announced it was "a piece of cake" and pulled out a 10 foot aluminum ladder and some rope.  He climbed to the very top of the tower and then pulled the ladder up and proceeded to lash it to the 18 foot mast.  He then climbed up the ladder, (I looked the other way) added the missing bolt, and the job was done in no time.

The photo below show Frank doing his thing.
