Last Months Meeting

Also Check The Minutes Page

If you attended the April meeting of the KWARC, I know everyone was delighted in hearing the presentation by Tedd Doda VE3TJD on "The Birth of a Repeater".

For those of you that were unable to come out, you missed a great projection presentation and discussion on a very interesting subject.. A new 6 meter repeater is now in service in the KW area on 53.370 Mhz VE3SED (no pl tone) Thanks to Tedd, who had a dream for years on starting up this project.

Tedd explained to the members through pictures and description, the process of establishing this unit, tuning the cavities, and choosing a good antenna that will provide excellent coverage throughout this area. Several pieces of both commercial as well as manufactured 6 meter equipment was on display at the meeting, and members had a opportunity to see how easy it will be to explore this "magic" band.

For those of you that have 6 meter capability now, dial up 53.370 (neg. offset) and give this new repeater a try.. or just use your scanner and listen in from the mobiles and bases from as far away as Toronto. The repeater has a short tail, for now, and has been installed at the clubs Baden site short tower for final testing before moving to its final home on the 170 ft Bell tower at Mannheim site. Our thanks to Tedd VE3TJD, for showing us how its done, and we wish him "good repeater operation" for many years to come.... we'll all be able to enjoy this exciting new band now.
