VE3SED
BADEN HILL
442.200/447.200 |
The new UHF VE3SED repeater is
located at Baden Hill. It uses a Motorola Mitrek 50 watt UHF mobile as the RX and TX.
The duplexer is a combination of 2- 4 can Sinclair notch-notch duplexer, which was
combined to make a 6 can duplexer. The operating frequency is 442.200 MHz transmit
and 447.200 receive. At present, it doesn't require any CTCSS (tone, or PL),
because the Communications Specialist encoder/decode was back ordered. It should arrive
the week of Nov 22, 1999 and will be installed then. The needed tone will be 131.8hz.
The antenna is a Sinclair 310-C4, 4 bay commercial antenna, and is mounted about 10 feet above the roof
of the main building on Baden Hill. This repeater will be very shortly interfaced directly
with the VE3SED 6 meter machine, so that people who only have UHF capabilities will be
able to enjoy the increased propagation of 6 meters. This will be a full time link, so
when the UHF machine is active, it will also put the operator onto the 6 meter repeater
and visa-versa.
Please try it out, but
remember that there is only a very short (100mS) tail, so kurchunking it will prove
useless, unless your receiver has a very fast recovery time (obviously less than 100 mS,
hi!).
My thanks go out to Ben,
VA3BNY for kicking my butt to get it operational, and for the help in installing the
antenna. Also to Scott, VE3MTQ for supplying me with a great radio. One last VERY BIG
thanks to Frank, VE3OFH for supplying the duplexer(s).
73, de Tedd
